Purple Heart Lapghan Presentation on July 10, 2015
On Friday, July 10, 2015 at a luncheon at volunteer Karol Faurie’s house, a special lapghan was presented to Vietnam Army Veteran, Larry Waldo. This lapghan was made by volunteer Val Langendorf and made of a special Purple Heart pattern.
Larry Waldo served in the 1st Infantry Division, also referred to as The Big Red One during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
The Purple Heart Medal is awarded to “members of the armed forces of the U.S. who are wounded by an instrument of war in the hands of the enemy and posthumously to the next of kin in the name of those who are killed in action or die of wounds received in action.”
